The Elizabeth market in Schwabing is celebrating its birthday with an unusual time journey: market activity in 1903, customers in historical costumes – there is a lot to see and to taste on Saturday, 15th of June.
Everyone knows the Viktualienmarket in Munich. The little brother – Elizabeth market in Schwabing – however, is still a secret place. It is one of the four permanent markets for food and flowers in Munich. Here you can find the finest delicacies for every taste – just like at the Viktualienmarket.
This Saturday, a visit to the Elizabeth market is especially worthwhile, for the market celebrates its 110th birthday. The celebrations take place from 3 to 10 pm: Men and women in historical costumes mix under the market-goers, including Her Highness Elisabeth of Bavaria (Sisi), Prince Regent Luitpold, the suburban wedding 1905 eV, Sissy heirs and other.
There are also free concerts and free cabaret/comedy: the comedy artists Bettina Hooks and Edeltraud Rey willl challenge your stomach muscles, the singer Dimitra Papandopulou, the cabaret artist and frontman of the couplet AG Jürgen Kirner as well as the award winning Tanngrindler Musicians will entertain you – like in the old days.
For the children, a nostalgic carousel is ready and photographers create personal souvenir photos with historic costumes.
